STORAGE & FREEZING Recommendations

STORING YOUR BREAD
The shelf life of our breads is 3-4 days.
Because our breads are made without preservatives, they do not act like commercially store-bought bread, so they do not have a long shelf life, which is a good thing, and what real bread should be!

The best way to store your loaves or bagels is in 100% linen bread bags. The linen prolongs the life of your bread by keeping the interior moist and the crust, well, crusty! They’re really worth the investment.
Another way to store your fresh bread is in resealable bags with the seal left open a small amount so air can get in. Just be mindful of humidity. Place your bread in a cool, dry area of your kitchen. Humidity can cause your bread to mould.

Never refrigerate your bread as it can make the bread become stale more quickly, dry it out, make it become tough, and may cause it to lose its lovely fresh grain flavour.

FREEZING YOUR BREAD
If you would like to freeze your bread, bagels or focaccia, we recommend freezing your bread as soon as you can, that way the bread will preserve its freshness when you’re ready to defrost it. We recommend freezing your bread in freezer-friendly bags for the best results.
For sourdough or sandwich loaves, we recommend selecting the complimentary sliced option when you place your bread order, that way you can take slices out as you go and they’ll defrost more quickly.
Freeze half a loaf or a full loaf and defrost it when you know you’ll be needing more bread for a meal.

To defrost your bread, place it on a wire-rack, if you have one, as this will allow air to circulate all around your bread.
To bring your whole loaf ‘back to life’, place in a 350 degree pre-heated oven for 10-15 minutes. The crust will crisp up again and you’ll have a lovely, warm, fresh loaf of bread.
